Star Clippers claims record advance bookings
Tall ships cruise line Star Clippers has achieved £1 million in advance UK bookings for 2009, a year-on-year record.
The company claims to have exceeded its 2008 targets and already has more than 600 UK passengers booked on its fleet of three ships for next year.
The advance bookings cover the Mediterranean, Far East, Caribbean and Tahiti. The Pacific itinerary was introduced this year and has now been confirmed again for 2009/10.
UK sales and marketing director Alison Repoulios said: “The niche cruising market remains strong and has a good outlook for 2009, largely thanks to repeat customers.
“Star Clippers has a loyal customer base and it is often the case that our customers would rather forego a second holiday or mini break in favour of investing in one longer cruise.
“We took many bookings before the launch of our new brochure at the beginning of this month and I would urge customers to book soon to ensure they get their preferred sailing dates.â€
Prices start at £880 for a seven-night cruise around Tahiti without flights.
A range of early booking discounts apply until October 31.
