Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ upscale St Regis brand has made its debut in Malaysia with the opening of The St. Regis Langkawi.

The opening marks the brand’s 37th hotel and first for Malaysia and it will add a second in capital Kuala Lumpur later this year.

A joint venture between Rajawali Group and Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance, the hotel features 85 luxury suites and four private overwater villas along a 600-metre white sand beach.

"The St. Regis brand remains laser-focused on increasing its presence in destinations where travellers from around the globe are seeking bespoke guest experiences, and we are thrilled to expand our portfolio in Southeast Asia with an extraordinary brand debut in Malaysia," said Jim Petrus, global brand leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts.

"The St. Regis Langkawi is set to redefine luxury hospitality on the island, from the resort’s lush, secluded location, to the iconic St. Regis butler service."

Situated a 30-minute drive from the Langkawi International Airport, The St. Regis Langkawi has six restaurants and bars, 800 square metre spa, and six meeting and event venues including a wedding chapel.
