Starwood expanding in Dubai with four new hotels
Global hotel group Starwood has signed agreements for four new hotels in Dubai under its fast growing Aloft and Element brands.
Three Aloft hotels and one Element are slated for 2018 openings, with a combined 816 rooms.
Aloft Dubai Dubiotech will have 227 guest rooms, Aloft Dubai Studio City will feature 200 keys located in Dubai Studio City, about 15 minutes from the city centre, and the 221-room Aloft Dubai IMPZ is planned for Dubai’s media district.
Also situated in the media district will be Element Dubai IMPZ, with 168 studio rooms.
"The UAE presents great opportunities to expand in the mid-market sector where there is a high demand for reliable and affordable hospitality," said Bart Carnahan, Starwood’s acquisitions and development SVP.
"Aloft and Element are revolutionising the hospitality industry, and we are excited to expand our already strong footprint in the market by introducing these brands into areas of Dubai where Starwood currently does not have a presence."
The hotels will be developed by local partner Dubai Properties.
"The hotels under the Aloft and Element brands will offer two new concepts to the existing mid-market category in the Emirate, which will emerge as a vital segment in the run up to the 2020 Exposition," said Dubai properties CEO Naaman Atallah.
Aloft is one of Starwood’s fastest growing brands and now numbers more than 100 hotels worldwide in the portfolio.
