Starwood to debut Aloft in Nepal in 2017
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has said it will bring the Aloft brand to Nepal in 2017.
This will be the second hotel in Nepal for Starwood, following the announcement of a Sheraton, which is currently under construction.
Aloft Kathmandu Thamel will be part of a mixed-use development and feature 175 rooms.
"Aloft will energise the lodging market in Kathmandu, Nepal and cater to the next generation of travellers with its emphasis on sleek design and live music offerings as part of the brand’s cutting-edge music programming," said Brian McGuinness, SVP of specialty select brands at Starwood.
McGuinness also said the fast growing Aloft brand will celebrate its 100th hotel milestone next year.
The Aloft Kathmandu Thamel development, which is owned by Chhaya Devi Complex Private Limited, will also have 6,650 square metres of retail space alongside Aloft’s signature restaurant Nook, a swimming pool, fitness centre and meeting space.
"We are delighted to partner with Starwood Hotels to introduce the Aloft brand to Kathmandu. This market has been longing for a cool, design-led international brand hotel,’ said Prithivi Bahadur Pande, chairman of owners Chhaya Devi Complex Private Limited.
