State to target multi-cultural markets
Known for its Green Bay Packers football team and its varied cheeses, the state of Wisconsin has ambitious plans to bring in multi-cultural travelers.
Other marketing efforts include expanding its Web site and offering a new guide for bird watchers.
The efforts unveiled during a Governor’s Conference on Tourism included targeting African-American, Hispanic and Asian travelers, according to state travel officials.
The department has created a new directory of 75 Wisconsin museums and historic destinations. The new birding guide points out various choice spots.
The department’s internet site is also being updated to include a “virtual mapping tool.” It will enable travelers to preview some of the state’s most popular attractions and events, including the Thai Pavilion at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison and the top of the Eagle Tower viewing platform in Door Country.
