Steigenberger Hotel Group restructures management
The Steigenberger Hotel Group has announced a new corporate management structure.
The two former strategic divisions of Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts and InterCityHotels will be replaced with three operational divisions: Steigenberger Business Hotels, Steigenberger Resort Hotels and InterCityHotels.
Each unit will be managed by its own vice president of operations.
Steigenberger’s CEO Puneet Chhatwal said in a company statement that the new structure would help the company respond to strategic challenges and market growth in a more timely manner.
Jörg Schiffmann has been appointed Vice President Operations Steigenberger Business Hotels. Schiffmann will take on strategic duties for Steigenberger’s 35 business properties.
Kai H. Gehrmann assumes the position of Vice President Operations Steigenberger Resort Hotels. Gehrmann now has strategic responsibility for the 13 Holiday Hotels run by the company.
Thomas Knabner has been named Vice President Operations InterCityHotels and will be responsible for the group’s 33 InterCityHotels in Germany and Austria.
Steigenberger Hotels, which was acquired by the Egyptian company Travco in 2009, consists of 79 hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Egypt. Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts are four and five star properties. InterCity Hotels are properties in the upper mid-range of service.
