Strike hits Lufthansa’s long-haul flights
Lufthansa is being forced to cancel more flights due to continued strike action by its pilots.
Strikes today (Thursday) will hit long-haul operations, with 84 of its 153 long-haul flights cancelled.
A planned walk-out for Friday will hit short and medium haul flights.
The action, by pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit, is the latest in a series of walk-outs by pilots in a dispute over early retirement benefits and Lufthansa’s plans to expand its budget operations.
Lufthansa is advising passengers to check the status of their flight and said services operated by Germanwings and Eurowings are not affected.
Passengers whose flights were cancelled can re-book onto another flight free of charge.
