Stuck in the mud
For anyone heading for the sunny delights of St Lucia, getting stuck in mud is probably the last thing on their minds. But that is exactly what happened to more than 100 British Airways passengers who suffered a two-day delay on the Caribbean island last week, when their plane got stuck at the island’s Hewanorra airport. According to the online news provider Ananova, the front wheel of the Gatwick-bound Boeing 777 got stuck on a grassed area near the runway. Three quarters of an hour later the passengers were taken off the plane and returned to the terminal; later the airport was closed to larger aircraft as the stricken jet could not be moved. The passengers had to be moved to a nearby hotel for two nights.
