Sun Country Airlines flights disrupted by another IT outage
Yet another system outage from a third-party provider is causing air travel disruption.
Budget carrier Sun Country Airlines says it has been affected with long lines of disappointed travelers at its Minneapolis hub.
It said it wasn’t the only airline affected.
"Sun Country Airlines has received reports of a temporary third-party system outage affecting all Sun Country flights, as well as the flights of many other airlines worldwide. Currently, no flights are enroute and we are delaying takeoffs until further notice," it said
"We are working with this operator’s team to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, and it has the full attention of our entire operations team."
It began early morning on Thursday with crowds quickly building at MSP.
The hopes of many travelers trying to get an early start away for the holiday weekend have been dashed.
It is still unclear which third-party contractor it is and what caused the outage.
"Our operations team is executing our approved manual process and working closely with the FAA to clear flights for takeoff. However, this manual process is causing delays throughout our system."
It is the third major outage in almost as many weeks which has affected multiple airlines globally.
