Suspicions raised over fizzyholidays prize draw
Holiday search website fizzyholidays.co.uk has been slammed by advertising watchdogs for running an unfair promotion after the company ignored a request to reveal who had won the prize of a £2000 holiday.
A complainant asked the Advertising Standards Authority to probe whether the promotion on the Manchester-based company’s social media site was genuine because she requested details of the winner and they were not provided.
The company also failed to respond to the ASA’s request for information, leading the regulator to state: "In the absence of evidence to demonstrate that the promotion was genuine and the prize had been awarded as described, we concluded that the promotion had not been administered fairly."
The ASA also told the firm not to repeat the promotion in its current form. "We told fizzyholidays.co.uk to ensure they were in a position to demonstrate in future that prizes had been awarded as described," it said.
"We also told them to ensure they published or made available on request the name and county of major prizewinners and, if applicable, their winning entries."
The matter has been referred to the ASA Compliance Team.
