SV hotels in Germany and Switzerland earn Green Key certification

All 32 hotels operated by the Zurich-based SV Hotel in Switzerland and Germany have been awarded the internationally recognized Green Key certification for sustainable management. The achievement also qualifies the properties for Level III status in Switzerland’s Swisstainable sustainability program.

The international certification, issued by the Foundation for Environmental Education, recognizes hotels that meet rigorous standards across a range of sustainability criteria. That includes energy and water management, waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and social responsibility. Through this initiative, SV Hotel is committing its entire portfolio to a continuous improvement process focused on environmental and social performance.

A subsidiary of SV Group, SV Hotel currently operates 32 properties across Switzerland and Germany. The company manages hotels under the Marriott Courtyard, Residence Inn, Renaissance, Moxy, and Me and All Hotels brands as a franchise partner, while also developing its own Stay KooooK brand and operating several independent hotels. SV Group employs approximately 5,500 people across Switzerland and Germany.

Achieving Green Key certification also automatically grants all of the group’s hotels Level III “Leading” status within the Swiss Swisstainable sustainability program.

With Green Key certification, we demonstrate that our hotels are systematically implementing sustainability practices,” said Marco Meier, Managing Director of SV Hotel. “What matters is not a single initiative, but a structured process of continuous improvement embedded within each property.

According to the company, the certification also provides greater transparency for guests, business partners, and event organizers. It serves as a verifiable indicator of the sustainability measures being implemented across the portfolio.

Green Key helps us structure our actions, measure progress, and communicate results in a clear and understandable way,” said Alexander Laukenmann, Director of Opening & Operations Support at SV Hotel.

Future SV Hotels opening include Stay KooooK (85 studios) and Hyatt Centric Hamburg Altstadt (185 rooms and suites); Stay KooooK Bremen City with up to 136 extended-stay studios and Stay KooooK Dortmund with a total of 56 units. The three properties should open their doors in 2027.
