Swedish mums are asking you to give up flying for a year
Two Swedish women are trying to persuade at least 100,000 people to give up flying for a year.
Already, Maja Rosen and her neighbour Lotta Hammar have managed to get 10,000 to pledge not to take any flights in 2019.
The two new mums started their social media campaign to show politicians what needs to be done to tackle climate change. In Sweden, a new travel tax of $7 to $48 per person per flight was introduced in April, prompting Norwegian to cancel at least one route.
Direct emissions from aviation account for only 3% of the EU’s total greenhouse gas emissions, but if aviation was a country, it would rank in the top 10 of worst offenders.
So are your clients concerned about the impact of flying on the environment? Do you see people switching to other forms of transport, such as long-distance trains, or opting for staycations instead of foreign trips?
