Swiss to scrap Birmingham
Swiss International Air Lines is to stop flights to Birmingham from Basel for the summer.
The carrier has announced a boost to its summer schedule, and will serve 74 destinations – four more than in last year’s summer timetable.
However, the airline has decided to drop Birmingham from March 27. London services get a boost with a fourth daily service from Basel to London City Airport.
In addition, the Swiss subsidiary, Crossair Europe is being scrapped and its routes operated by Swiss from March 27.
Swiss will continue to operate out of Geneva, and the schedule remains unchanged for the summer, although services to Paris will be operated as a codeshare with Air France, and by May 1 Swiss will not operate any of the Paris flights.
