“Tag it yourself,” says WestJet
The Canadian airline, WestJet has announced self-serve baggage tagging for travelers flying to the US from Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. The airline introduced self-service bag tagging in November for Calgary to US flights. The airline is the first in Canada to introduce self-serve baggage tagging on non-stop transborder flights.
Self-serve baggage tagging allows WestJet guests to use mobile, web or kiosk check-in to check in for their flight and print their own baggage tags when they arrive at the airport. Guests checking in via kiosk may print their boarding passes and baggage tags at the same time. Once the tags have been attached, guests drop baggage off at the appropriate location.
WestJet passengers have already had the ability to print their own baggage tags for domestic flights since 2010. Now, WestJet is the first Canadian airline to offer the same service on selected non-stop flights to the United States.
WestJet will expand self-serve baggage tagging to include U.S. flights from other Canadian airports in the months to come.
