NSW tourism experiences and products are being showcased to the world at Australia’s premier international tourism trade event, the Australian Tourism Exchange this week.

Minister for Tourism Matt Brown said Tourism NSW was taking a leading a role on behalf of the NSW tourism industry, joining more than 1000 state and national tourism delegates at the eight-day event at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“Tourism NSW is profiling Sydney and NSW regional destinations to international media, providing a coordinated, branded presence for NSW tourism industry and informing international travel brokers of new and key products within the State,” Mr Brown said.

“Two NSW products, Tribal Warrior & Muru Mittigar, are exhibiting at the Aboriginal Australia Showcase and are being profiled as a Key Australian Experience at the trade show.

“Regional destinations new to the international market include the Snowy Mountains, Lord Howe Island, the Eurobodalla Coast and the Greater Blue Mountains Drive and are all showcased at the Tourism NSW booth.

“NSW has a prominent presence with a contingent of 64 NSW companies plus national companies with substantial NSW product in their portfolio, ranging from tourism operators, attractions, airlines, tourism wholesalers and retailers.

“This event is an invaluable opportunity for the NSW tourism industry to gain world-wide exposure for their new and innovative travel products to influential overseas buyers and international media.

“Tourism NSW will co-ordinate and secure meetings between NSW operators and key international wholesalers and provide expert advice on international marketing strategies to overseas buyers,” Mr Brown said. “It will also facilitate forums for NSW tourism sellers to meet with overseas contacts and negotiate commercial arrangements to increase their travel business,” he said

Up to 50 international media representatives and domestic travel media are also attending the tourism exchange which is hosted annually by Tourism Australia.

The trade show, now in its 21st year, helps to generate billions of dollars in export earnings as a result of business deals that take place during the event.
