Saturday, 19 Sep, 2007 0

Wet your whistle, tingle your taste buds and enrich your mind. Whether your group is seeking history, nature, fun or relaxation, the diversity of Wisconsin’s many attractions offer something for everyone. Take a trip to wine country in the north and sample the many signature wines produced there.

Visit fascinating factories in the south and learn about how your favorite foods and products are made. Explore the vast shore of Lake Michigan and all the maritime attractions and spectacular sites it has to offer.

NORTHWESTERN WISCONSIN
The historic city of Bayfield has much to offer group tourists. Start with a visit to the Bayfield Winery and Hauser’s Superior View Farm. Sample a variety of homemade hard ciders, meads and country wines made with locally grown fruit and honey. Then walk over to explore the apple orchard and historic family barn. The farm, which has been in the family since 1908, is open for visitors May through October.

For a bit more of Bayfield’s history, make sure to reserve a time for one of their Heritage Tours. Choose from a history walk, wildlife walk, a tour of historic mansions or one of the Ghosts and Legends of Old Bayfield walks. Group rates are available and private tours can be arranged for groups of eight or more.
Travel over to Three Lakes to see the world’s largest freshwater inland chain of lakes. With a total of 20 lakes and 106 miles of shoreline, there are plenty of activities to keep groups busy.

Next, stop by the Three Lakes Winery from May through October for a guided tour and learn all about their fruit wines. Make a stop in Wausau, located in the heart of Wisconsin. Groups can make their own dairy products at Willow Springs Garden. “Play with Your Food” offers guests a chance to make butter, cheese and ice cream and enjoy their creations with their lunch. Next drive over and tour Hsu’s Ginseng Enterprises, Inc., the largest and first Chinese-owned ginseng farm in North America.

For a great brewery tour, groups should head up to Chippewa Falls to  visit the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. The brewery offers a tour, museum and gift shop as well as samples of their many varieties of beer. Tours are offered all year with a maximum of 15 people per tour.
