TD Travel wins Pilkington account
In an unprecedented move Business Travel Management specialists the TD Travel Group, with offices across the North of England, have recently been appointed as the Travel Management Company for a truly global account.
NSG Group of Japan, a leading manufacturer of glass for Buildings and Automotive, acquired UK-based Pilkington in 2006. The Group now has manufacturing operations in 29 countries, with sales operations in 130 countries and 32,500 employees worldwide. It invited tenders from many of the major players in the business travel sector to manage its global travel policy. After final presentations in Japan, Malaysia and the UK, TD Travel Management was appointed on a rolling three-year contract.
Heading the project for TD is Chris Mollan. Chris went out to find like-minded, best in market place Travel Management Companies around the world that could form a real alliance by feeding into TD’s IT systems whilst embracing and adhering to their best practices and approach. Nineteen Travel Management Companies around the world have been brought together by TD to form an ‘NSG Global Travel Alliance’ allowing for, amongst many other benefits, global data to be offered in one format.
Chris Mollan, when commenting on how delighted he is about this account win, also elaborated, “Pilkington have recognised that the TD Travel Alliance utilises country level expertise which allows for the many different cultures and expectations of all of the countries involvedâ€. He went on to say “already, simply by analysing how Pilkington book and pay for their travel we have guaranteed a six figure saving for 2009. We are confident that by further analysing their travel patterns and spend, even greater value and savings will be achieved.â€
The TD Travel Group anticipate further growth in the future by continuing to understand and deliver cost effective business travel services to companies in the regions, nationally and globally by building on the best in marketplace alliance principle. They are also confirming that companies now have a choice and don’t actually have to deal with a larger multiple travel management company to benefit from greater savings, processes and overall service.
