Technical issue forces Celebrity cruise cancelation
Citing technical issues, Celebrity Cruises has canceled this week’s sailing on Celebrity Beyond from Miami.
Guests booked on the July 20 sailing were initially informed by the cruise line that the sailing would be delayed by only one day.
They received a letter offering compensation for the missed day of the cruise and a hotel stay.
Celebrity Cruises has now informed them the cruise is now canceled.
It acknowledged repairs will take longer than originally thought.
“The ship experienced a technical issue that affected its speed. While our teams have been working diligently, we need additional time to complete necessary assessments and repairs,” it said.
“After carefully considering all options, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the sailing. We sincerely apologize for this unexpected change and the disruption this causes to your travel plans.”
Celebrity will provide full refunds and as a gesture of goodwill, a 100% Future Cruise Credit.
Additionally, Celebrity Cruises will compensate up to $200 for domestic flights and $400 for international flight change fees.
The canceled sailing was a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
