Technical problems ground American Airlines flights
Technical problems caused delays and cancellations to American Airlines flights for several hours yesterday (Thursday).
Operations were disrupted when flights were grounded at its three biggest hubs – Chicago, Dallas and Miami.
The problems occured just weeks before the airline completes a move to a single reservation system following its merger with US Airways.
Rivals United and Continental were hit by months of delays and cancellations when they merged their reservations systems in 2012.
American Airlines denied yesterday’s issues, which affected its website and check-in systems, were connected with the migration.
It said the problem was now fixed and it was now investigating the cause.
Earlier this year, hundreds of American Airlines flights were grounded when pilots had problems with flight dispatch software on their iPads.
