Discovery Park of America is about to open in Union City, TN, with exhibits focused on nature, science, technology, history, and art, spread across a 50-acre complex.

The $100 million park, financed in large part by Obion County residents Robert and Jenny Kirkland, will officially open on November 1, 2013.

Its seven outdoor areas include something for everyone, from walk-through train cars to MainStreet, a replica of small towns in the early 1900s complete with a refurbished Fire House, to Liberty Hall, with its replicas of the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence and a life-size Liberty Bell.

The Settlement and the Barn will depict the history of farming and the tractors, graters and combines used throughout the 20th century; the Native American Gallery will feature an Ice Age wooly mammoth ; and the Science, Space, and Technology Gallery will take visitors into the future in an interactive starship theater.

The Energy and Enlightenment Galleries will show ancient artifacts, including a life-size replica of the Ark of the Covenant.

The Regional History Gallery will display plants and fish in a 20,000-gallon tank, and a simulation theater will let guests experience the 1811-1812 earthquakes that formed Reelfoot Lake; other galleries will display cars and airplanes from various decades.

Venues include a 100-year-old chapel that was formerly located in Elbridge, Tenn., where modern-day couples can exchange vows; a hillside amphitheater that will host outdoor concerts; a Great Lawn for picnicking; and Japanese and European gardens.

A 120-foot observation tower with a flagpole nearly 200 feet high will be one of several spaces available for special events.

One-day tickets will cost $13.95; annual passes will be priced at $50 for adults and $25 for children 4 and older; children under 4 are free.
