Terror threat fails to deter the British from flying
Travel price comparison website Cheapflights UK has claimed a 33% year-on-year increase in traffic during the first four days of July.
The rise came in the face of attempted terrorist attacks on Glasgow airport and London.
CEO David Soskin said: “This is spectacular and shows how British consumers do love a bargain. Clearly the doctors of death have not affected the British appetite for flying, particularly if it’s a good deal.”
The company said it saw a similar pattern after 9/11 – traffic from intending flyers looking for a flight bargin might drop very briefly but it rapidly increases.
