Thailand further relaxes entry rules
Thailand is easing entry protocols for tourists, in a bid to keep the tourism recovery on track.
From April 1, the pre-departure test requirement will be removed and replaced with tests on arrival for inbound travellers, said Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesperson for Thailand’s Covid-19 task force.
Travellers must also take an antigen test on day 5 of their visit.
A one-night stay at an approved hotel is required.
“From July 1, if all goes well , we hope that we will be transitioning into an endemic from a pandemic,” ministry spokesperson Natapanu Nopakun said.
Thailand has-been slowly relaxing rules but tourism businesses urged the government to go further and faster to escalate the recovery.
Government officials say over 71% have been fully vaccinated and nearly one-third have received a booster jab.
