That’s the Spirit: Carnival goes to the races

Carnival Cruise Lines has unwrapped a new itinerary for the Melbourne Cup in 2014.

The largest ship to call Australia home, Carnival Spirit, will sail to Melbourne for the horse “race that stops a nation”.

The round-trip itinerary will depart Sydney on Sunday November 2, 2014, arriving into Melbourne on Tuesday November 4.

The cruise ticket will include entry into Flemington racecourse, plus transport to the track and back to the ship.

Jennifer Vandekreeke, director Carnival Cruise Lines Australia and New Zealand, said: "We knew that in order for us to call Carnival Spirit truly ‘Aussified’, we had to take her to an iconic sporting event down under – and we couldn’t look past the Melbourne Cup."
