The race for Aussie domestic air hots up!
With Aussie domestic carriers Qantas, Jetstar and new entrant Tiger busy ordering new aircraft, Embraer, the Brazil based manufacturer maker of midsize jetliners for regional airlines, has received six more orders from Virgin Blue, Australia’s second-biggest airline.
They have reported that Virgin Blue will buy three Embraer 170 aircraft and another three Embraer 190 jets, bringing Virgin’s total firm order with Embraer to 20 increasing the number of aircraft already ordered last year.
With the order now estimated to be worth $182 million, using last year’s list prices. Virgin Blue will start taking delivery of the new orders in the second half of the year, with the Embraer 170 seating 78 passengers and the Embraer 190 seating 104.
