Thomas Cook begin scrum for Ashes tickets

Packages for next winter’s eagerly-awaited Ashes cricket tour to Australia have gone on sale at Thomas Cook, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a scrum for match tickets.

Thomas Cook Sport is offering packages starting at £2,121 for eight nights including return flights, accommodation, transfers and match tickets.

Tours are available for all five matches, the first of which takes place in Brisbane in November. Subsequent tests take place in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Thomas Cook Sport director Danny Talbot said: “It’s an unprecedented move for a major travel company to be able to sell cricket fans and holidaymakers alike tickets to such a major event.

“We’re expecting great demand for the tickets and holidays.”

Tickets go on general sale to English supporters in mid-June, almost three weeks after they are made available to Australians.
