Thomas Cook chief to speak at Travel Matters conference
Thomas Cook Group chief executive Peter Fankhauser will be the headline keynote speaker at ABTA’s Travel Matters conference this year.
The annual policy conference, which is by invitation only, will take place on June 28 at RSA House in London.
A year on from the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, the theme of the half-day event will be ‘Redrawing the Map’.
Discussions will focus on the crucial policy matters for the travel industry arising out of Brexit.
Fankhauser will touch on Brexit, the changing travel landscape, and how Thomas Cook is adapting.
British journalist, and broadcaster Andrew Pierce, consultant editor and columnist at the Daily Mail, will offer his take on the current political landscape.
Travel Matters will also cover upcoming changes to the Package Travel Directive (PTD) as well as proposed increases to London’s airport capacity.
ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer said: "With Brexit negotiations getting underway and significant regulatory reform on the horizon, there are important changes and updates impacting travel businesses. Travel Matters will be an excellent opportunity for the travel industry and government to come together to debate and discuss these key issues."
Travel Matters, sponsored by Deloitte, is for senior representatives from ABTA’s membership, industry stakeholders, travel and transport media as well as Government departments and bodies.
A full programme of speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
