Thomas Cook gets staff on board with cruise training
Thomas Cook has created a cruise academy for its 6,000 retail and sales staff.
The company, which claims to be the UK’s biggest seller of cruise holidays, has developed the training scheme via its employee intranet to ensure retail and sales centre staff are aware of the latest news in cruising.
Thomas Cook aims for all 6,000 sales and retail staff to complete the academy.
The academy consists of three levels with staff becoming qualified cruise experts after successfully completing all stages.
Level One comprises interactive web-based learning that provides staff with generic cruise knowledge and customer-questioning skills. Level Two focuses on specific cruise lines and their offerings, and Level Three, concludes with an in-depth workshop.
Staff who complete the academy will be eligible for exclusive benefits including ship visits and educational trips.
Head of cruises Jenny Ellis said: “The demand for cruises has significantly increased as has the variety of cruises now on offer.
“The Thomas Cook Cruise Academy will ensure our sales consultants are all fully equipped with the knowledge and experience so they can help customers choose the perfect cruise.”
