Thomas Cook pilots call off strikes
Thomas Cook pilots have called off eight days of strikes planned for later this month.
Union BALPA said pilots and Thomas Cook have agreed to enter binding arbitration to end the dispute over pay.
In the meantime, pilots have called off a strike today, a three-day strike from October 12 and a four-day strike from October 19.
Pilots have already held two strikes after nine days of ACAS talks ended in stalemate.
BALPA general secretary Brian Strutton said: "Our members voted to end this dispute by binding arbitration, which Thomas Cook has now agreed to.
"I am pleased that we have been able to find a peaceful way of resolving the pilots’ pay dispute without further disruption to passengers."
Thomas Cook had already made some changes to flight schedules today (Friday) in light of possible strike action and said these changes would remain.
A spokesman said: "We remain keen to resolve this dispute in the interests of all involved and we will now focus on proceeding with the arbitration process."
