Thomas Cook to resume Gambia programme
Thomas Cook will resume flights to The Gambia on February 1, operating a reduced programme on four flights a week instead of six.
It has cut capacity because it expects lower demand for the remaining weeks of the winter season.
Instead it has increased capacity in other winter destinations, including operating two additional flights a week into Hurghada, Egypt.
The full Gambia programme will be reinstated for winter 2017/18.
Customers who were due to travel on one of the cancelled flights are being offered free amendments to another destination or date.
Those who chose to remain in The Gambia and were due to travel back with Thomas Cook Airlines will still be able to do so after January 31.
Thomas Cook had suspended its programme last week after the FCO advised against all but essential travel to the country amid concerns growing tensions in the lead-up to the handover following the disputed Presidential elections on December 1.
But on Monday night the FCO relaxed the travel restrictions saying the political situation has stabilised and the possibility of a military intervention is no longer likely.
