Thomas’s in Fiji says that they understand how Fiji works and knew that things would just carry on as normal.
Friends and colleagues of Sydney based IT expert Phil Thomas thought that going to a country immediately after a coup seemed to be a strange place to be taking his wife Amanda, 17yr old Kirsten and 13yr old Cameron for a holiday.
Not only that, but they booked after the coup, which is interesting, with Phil describing the coup as a gentlemanly coup, referring to the public manner in which the coup too place.
Long time Fiji visitors, the Thomas’s though understand how Fiji works and knew that things would just carry on as normal.
They also felt that this was a different reason for coup than in previous year and that the peaceful transition was fulfilled.
They were not worried or concerned in the slightest and they said that had been proved to be correct since their arrival in Fiji, with the same happy smiling faces greeting them in true Fijian style.Cameron was going fishing and anything to do with water and Kirsten wanted massages and saps and lots of them!
Mum and Dad, well The Mole could tell that doing nothing was pretty high on the agenda!
They though that they had better do the right thing and check out the DFAT website and they did register with DFAT.
Phil said that this was a coup that was announced it was going to happen days before it did and was even postponed for the Commander to go and play rubgy in a game between the police and army, adding and that is Fiji!
So no worries about going to Fiji from the Thomas’s and they all said neither should anyone else have any concerns.
