Thomson and First Choice see big jump in mobile bookings
Thomson and First Choice have reported a big rise in mobile and tablet bookings over the festive period.
Figures released this week show that 53% of all holiday searches on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day were made using mobiles and tablets.
Mobile bookings for both TUI brands were up 97% on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, while tablet bookings were up 61%.
New Year’s Day also saw an uplift in bookings of 53% for mobile and 111% for tablets.
On Christmas Day alone, Thomson mobile bookings were up 158% versus 2012, with one single mobile transaction over the Christmas period coming in at nearly £10,000.
The most booked destinations on mobile and tablet over the festive season were Tenerife, Sharm El Sheikh and Majorca.
Thomson and First Choice marketing and digital director, Jeremy Ellis, put the growth down to the launch of fully mobile optimised sites.
