Thomson extends deal with Travel Buddy
Thomson has extended its partnership with Travel Buddy, the mobile company which provides location based information to holiday makers.
In a five-year deal, Travel Buddy will continue to provide Thomson’s customers opt-in information in a text message on subjects such as local weather, events, emergency numbers and travel information.
Adam Winterflood, managing director at Travel Buddy commented: “The Travel Buddy service has been particularly successful for Thomson and has allowed them to continue the dialogue with their clients from the point of making a booking until completion of the holiday.
“This valuable communication improves customer service and allows specific queries to be addressed immediately. The length of our service agreement with Thomson is testament to the tangible benefits that have been delivered.â€
The new partnership between the two companies follows an initial exclusive deal which enabled Travel Buddy to develop the system.
Travel Buddy now has proprietary content for over 1200 destinations as well as a Mobile Translator delivered by Java Applet in 11 different languages.
Customers register for no fee, but each time they requess local profiled information there will be a charge, between 25p and £1, depending on type of content.
Thomson can also use the system for other communication, including for operational purposes.
