Thomson plans virtual tour guides for website
Thomson plans to launch virtual tour guides on its website in the next couple of weeks.
The hour-and-a-half long audio guides will be available for consumers to download to their i-pods or other mobile devices.
Cities including Paris will be among the first to be offered on the site.
TUI UK head of new media Graham Donoghue said additional online services such as blogs, destination videos and now audio guides, help conversion.
“We’re not saying downloading virtual guides is going to be hugely mainstream. It’s just another way to bring something that is hugely popular on to the site. We need to have the best content, technology and invest in changing people’s minds and perceptions about what Thomson offers.”
The operator is planning to charge five euros for the guides, which will contain detailed information about the destinations and their tourism attractions.
