Thomsonfly boss steps down
Thomsonfly managing director Kevin Hatton is to step down to be replaced by operations director Maurice Boyle.
Hatton has headed the airline and its forerunner Britannia Airways for five years, clocking up more than 40 years experience in the aviation industry, including time at British Airways.
Parent company TUI UK said he had planned to retire last year but was persuaded to extend his contract. He will continue to assist the company in an advisory capacity until the end of the year.
Succeeding Boyle as operations director on an interim basis will be head of flight crew Chris Turner.
Thomsonfly.com became the operating name for Britannia in May, 14 months after a sister budget airline under the same name launched flights from Coventry.
TUI UK managing director Peter Rothwell said Hatton has “played a major role in shaping thre airline, ensuring it responds to the significant shift in customer and passenger needs and was a principal player in the start up of our low fares airline Thomsonfly.com bringing about a significant growth within the airline for the first time in many years”.
