Thomson’s toilets working again
Thomson’s newly delivered cruise ship Celebration is due to return to service on Sunday after the operator claimed its plumbing problems had been solved.
Thomson cancelled a two-week European trip from Southampton on day six after vacuum toilets became blocked, as reported by TravelMole.
The operator said around 1,250 passengers have booked on Sunday’s cruise, a five-day trip to the Scilly Isles from Southampton.
During the summer, the ship is due to sail around the Norwegian Fjords from various ports in Britain.
Celebration is a 21-year-old vessel which was previously operated as the Noordam by Holland America Line. It has recently undergone a major refit after being acquired by Thomson.
A spokeswoman said: “We had a ‘shakedown’ cruise with 1,000 staff and than another short trip and there were no problems with the toilets. Engineers have been on board and we are confident everything is now working normally.”
