Three dead in Austrian avalanches
A spate of avalanches in the Austrian Alps has left at least three people dead and many more injured. According to the Sky News website, hundreds of avalanches were recorded in the Tirol province alone over the weekend. One German man was reportedly found dead after he and his son were swept away as they were skiing in the resort of Saalbach, Salzburg province; the son was rescued and was not injured. An avalanche in the resort of Bad Gastein, also in Salzburg province, is reported to have killed at Czech man, and Sky reports that two Hungarian men were swept away on the country’s highest mountain, Grossglockner.
