Three foreign guests die in Bangkok hotel fire
Three foreign guests have died and seven other people were injured after a fire at a hotel in Bangkok’s traveller hub of Khao San Road.
One woman died at the scene in a room and two males were later pronounced dead in hospital.
Their names or nationalities haven’t been disclosed yet.
They were staying at the Ember Hotel near Khao San Road, which is the city’s popular backpacker district.
Five other foreign travellers and two Thai nationals were injured, officials said.
Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt said firefighting teams were on the scene within minutes and rescued about 75 people using cranes who were trapped in the six-storey hotel.
It is unclear what caused the fire.
Authorities ordered the hotel to shut down while a full investigation is completed.
They said there will be a full assessment of the fire alarm system.
