Three hoax bomb threats in a single day disrupt Mumbai flights
Passengers flying out of Mumbai experienced major disruption after three hoax bomb threats were made against international flights on the same day.
An Air India flight to New York had to be diverted to Delhi.
It was carrying 239 passengers and 19 crew.
The flight was cancelled and will resume from Delhi a day later on Tuesday.
Bomb threats were also issued for IndiGo’s Mumbai-Muscat and Mumbai-Jeddah flights, which were at the gate, leading to delays of several hours while security checks were carried out.
A bomb threat was also posted for a Mumbai-Howrah Mail train service which also turned out to be a hoax.
“Flight AI 119 to JFK received a security alert and on instructions of the government’s security regulatory committee was diverted to Delhi,” an Air India spokesperson said.
“We confirm that all passengers and crew disembarked and undergoing security procedures. Guests will be moved to hotels once security protocols are completed,” Air India said on Monday.
The two IndiGo flights were delayed seven and eleven hours respectively.
