Three travel companies among 500 of world’s largest companies
Carnival, Cendant and InterActive Corp were among those in the Financial Times global 500 Report and rising higher in the list, while Southwest and Marriott dropped off the list.
Carnival was the 121st largest company with a market cap of $37.8 billion, according to the Financial Times, which lists the world’s largest companies by market capitalization.
Carnival last year came in at number 236. Cendant also increased its global ranking, rising from 240 to 204. InterActive also climbed 15 places to 255.
A few companies with significant travel operations also made the list. The insurance giant AIG is the seventh largest company, up from number 11 last year.
American Express climbed six places to number 54, while Disney jumped four places to number 75.
One notable dropout of the top 500 was Southwest Airlines, which used to be 314th. Marriott International also dropped off the list.
