Time is right for Qantas
Qantas Domestic chief executive Lyell Strambi has welcomed the release of Australia’s latest on-time performance statistics.
For the fifth year in a row, Qantas was more punctual than rival Virgin Australia, according to data from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics.
Strambi said the reason more than 85% of Qantas domestic flights arrived on time (against Virgin’s 82.3%) "comes down to our dedicated people who work tirelessly to get our customers to their destinations on time" and who operate "in the same weather conditions and within the same airport environment (as Virgin)".
Strambi noted punctuality was a key factor for the business sector in choosing an airline.
"With people’s hectic schedules, knowing they are going to arrive on time has never been a more important part of air travel," he said.
Jetstar managed to operate 78.4% of its flights on time, narrowly ahead of Tiger Air Australia (77.3%)
