Tiscover has signed a deal with the south coast city, Plymouth to provide it with a marketing website – Tiscover’s first UK deal.

The website will launch in February, with the address www.visitplymouth.com. It will offer bookable accommodation later in the Spring.

Karsten KarcherTiscover will develop the website alongside Cornwall-based Morveren, its first training and support partner in the UK. Tiscover chief international business officer, Karsten Karcher (pictured) said: “We currently have 20 partners in six or seven countries for local expertise and know-how. It is a well-proven and long-practised model. Morveren is our first partner in the UK, and we are interested in other partners as well.”

Morveren will provide training for website members, local support and data entry. Accommodation providers can opt to be trained to update their own information and rates, or have it updated for them.

Mr Karcher told TravelMole he was in negotiations with a number of other UK destinations to provide destination marketing websites. He said that Tiscover currently powers and manages websites for 2,000 destination management organisations and 16,000 other travel-related companies in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Customers include the Austrian and Bavarian Tourist Boards.

Mr Karcher told TravelMole: “We hope to be announcing early next year another destination partner in the UK”.
