TMCs missing out on up to 30% commission
Expense and reconciliation technology company Conferma says business travel agents are missing out on large chunks of commission by calculating it on hotel booking data instead of total billed data.
The company analysed 100,000 global hotel bookings at the end of June where the average length of stay was 1.8 nights and total booked data was £7.2m.
But that figure reached £9.4m when spend on meals and room services were taken into account.
This shows discretionary spend on extras is averagely 30% higher than if just the room rate cost were taken into account.
CEO Conferma Simon Barker said: “Our research shows that TMCs are short changing themselves by not looking at the complete picture using billed rather than booked data to calculate their commission rates.”
