Today is busiest day of the year for UK flights

Ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, Cirium data shows today, 25 August is set to be the busiest day for UK flights so far this year.

It represents the highest number of departures since October 2019.

Over 3,130 UK flight departures are scheduled for today.

Over the entire Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 25 August – Monday 28 August), there are 11,839 flights scheduled, with passenger capacity of more than 2.1 million seats.

Across the long weekend, departure numbers are 10% higher than a year ago.

They are also set to reach 90% of 2019 levels,

The busiest airport over the holiday is Heathrow, followed by Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh.

EasyJet will operate the most UK flights during the weekend, followed by BA, Ryanair and Jet2.
