Tony Burrell passes away – funeral arrangements
Family, friends and colleagues of Tony’s are still in a state of shock over Tony’s passing and Tony’s funeral has been organised for this Thursday starting at 11:00am at Christ Church Cathederal, Church St. Newcastle.
A private cremation will be held for family immediately after.
Friends and colleagues are invited to join the family in celebrating Tony’s life and saying goodbye to him, both at the funeral and afterwards at the Beach Bar, Beaches Hotel at Merewether.
Given the parking situation in Newcastle and the anticipated number of people attending, Port Stephens Coaches has kindly offered a 50 seater coach to transport members to the service. It will be departing the bus depot on Port Stephens Drive at 9:25am.
As numbers are limited to 50 people, you must reserve a seat by ringing the staff at the Visitors Centre on 02 4980 6900.
Staff will take names and confirm on the spot however please be aware that seats are limited……. no booking no seat.
The bus will also take people to the wake at Beaches Hotel for an hour or two before returning back to Port Stephens.
Port Stephens Coaches have supplied the bus at no charge however as a suggestion, a small donation on the day may be appropriate.
Whilst we understand that it is difficult for everyone to simply leave their business, Port Stephens Council has put together a small web site where you can leave your condolences or send your goodbye to Tony.
The contents of the site will be printed and attached to a card for his parents.
To leave a note simply: log onto http://weblog.portstephens.org.au
Click the “Read Full Story” to see a few words on Tony and at the bottom of the page under the heading “Leave a response” is a text box where you can enter your words. Once complete, simply click “Submit”.
From here, your message will be forwarded for approval before being posted onto the site. Please be patient.

Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone else you think may have known Tony.
