Top speakers line up for national tourism conference
With just one week to go, ATEC has announced that Federal Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson, The Climate Institute’s Director of Strategic Projects Nicolette Boele, Boeing Aviation Vice President Craig Saddler and KPMG demographer Bernard Salt are just some of the luminaries scheduled to speak at a tourism conference to be held in Newcastle and the Hunter region next week.
The Australian Tourism Export Council’s annual Symposium is the largest tourism trade conference in Australia and will attract more than 600 delegates to the region, putting local tourism operators under the global spotlight.
The Symposium conference program includes a workshop day, two days of conference sessions, numerous social functions, a full-day backpacker conference and a pre- and post-touring program designed to showcase the Newcastle and Hunter regions and their world-class food and wine offerings as up-and-coming international products and destinations.
ATEC Managing Director Matthew Hingerty said a range of top Australian and international speakers had been confirmed for Symposium, including:
** Li Cunxin – author of ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’
** Bernard Salt – KPMG partner, demographer
** Nicolette Boele – Director of Strategic Projects, The Climate Institute
** Martin Ferguson – Federal Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism
** Matt Brown – NSW Tourism Minister
** Craig Saddler, Vice President, Boeing Aviation
** Peter Liney, CEO, STA Travel
** Jack Guo, GM, Bejing China Travel Service
** Lindy Christian, GM, Stella Travel Services
A range of national and international tourism experts will also speak at a series of half-day miniconferences at Symposium, focusing on Australia’s key international tourist markets – including Japan/China/Korea; US/UK/Europe and Middle East/Eastern Europe/South America.
