A “free night and free flight” offer on departures to Australia until the end of June has been created for those wanting to be as far from UK as possible when the World Cup starts.
Long haul specialist Travelmood has teamed up with Tourism Australia to create the offer as the operator found that June has been the most popular month for customers looking to book on its website to get away.
People booking an international flight to Australia and a minimum of four nights accommodation before April 30 for travel by the end of June, will receive a free internal flight on selected routes and their fourth night free.
More than 20% of online searches in the past four weeks were for holidays departing in June, considerably higher than the traditional peak travel months of July and August, according to the company.
The second most popular month to get away in was May, followed by October and September.
The top five destinations are Thailand, Malaysia, the US, Australia and Bali.
Travelmood managing director Rad Sofronijevic said: “We looked at the destinations and departure months that our customers were currently searching for and based our holiday sale around that.
“Then we discovered that lots of them were looking for holidays that departed in June and assumed that they must be seeking to escape the UK during the World Cup.
“Our Spring Sale includes holidays that depart in May, June, September and October as these are the months that our customers have been searching the most.
“We’ve also matched the destinations in our sale with those that our customers most want to visit, for example Thailand, Malaysia USA and Australia.”
