Top100 sustainable destinations on a roll

More and more destinations want sustainable tourism to maximise their benefits and strengthen their brand. There’s even a training scheduled 50km from N Korea

At a packed award ceremony at this year’s ITB it was easy to see why the Top100 Sustainable Destinations has become so successful so quickly.

It’s simple – if you are a destination with the interests of your community at heart you want to develop a form of tourism that delivers maximum benefits and minimum problems.

You want to be a part of a movement that represents the future of tourism – and delivers amazing experiences to visitors and happy communities to residents.

And, just as importantly you want to protect and enhance your environmental heritage for future generations.

All this was clear at the biggest award ceremony that ITB – the world’s biggest travel market – hosted this year.

And now it’s onwards and upwards for the Top100…

Green Destinations – the Top100 parent –  has even organised a training for sustainable destinations 50km from North Korea in Songdo Convensia, Incheon (Korea), 19-22 June 2018 as part of the International Water Safety Symposium.

It will take place while hopefully the world is witnessing Korean leaders making approaches towards peace and prosperity for all Korean people so the theme for the event is "Tourism for Peace and Prosperity". Participation is limited details at http://iwss2018.org/sub2/2_1.php

Do you know a destination that would qualify for being in the Top100?

The creation of the 2018 list of 100 sustainable destinations is well under way and applications are being received at this moment and the Top100 team are busy collating information.

The process is simple – a destination can be nominated by anybody, a travel agent, tour operator, member of the public or the destination itself. You will need to give the Top100 team a contact person at the destination to complete the procedure. To continue just download the form here http://greendestinations.org/2018-top100/
