Tour operator smarTours ceases trading

Tour operator smarTours has ceased operations and is no longer part of USTOA’s $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program.
The company was established in 1996 offering group tours to Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America, and joined the USTOA scheme in 2015.
“Travel advisors should be aware that purchases of smarTours products made on or prior to January 31, 2025 may be protected under the USTOA $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program,” said USTOA president and CEO Terry Dale.
Client deposits and payments made since then will not be covered by the USTOA program, Dale added.
Customers can file claims via the claim form at www.ustoa.com/travelers-assistance/smartours
The company placed a ‘good bye’ message on its website:
“For the past 30 wonderful years, smarTours has been honored to serve travelers, bringing unforgettable experiences to destinations around the world.”
“It is with great sadness that we must inform you that smarTours is no longer operational.”
