Tour operators plea for Bali flights
Tour operators have urged Garuda Indonesia to re-instate its direct service to Bali this Spring to cater for an increase in demand for holidays to the island.
Garuda recently announced its intention to pull out of Europe by axing its Jakarta-Amsterdam flights from November and there is now a question mark over whether services from the UK will be restarted.
Operators such as Kuoni and Bales have seen a surge in interest in Bali since the Government lifted its ban on non-essential travel to the island last month.
Adrian Croft, far east product manager for Kuoni, said: “We use Singapore Airlines via Singapore, but it’s a struggle to get seats over the next few months. Bookings are rising sharply and we need the extra flights.”
A spokesman for Garuda in London said: “As far as we know the plan is still to put the flights back on. But discussions within the company are continuing and we are waiting for confirmation.”
