Tourism boost needed in Fiji

A report in the Fiji Times ays Tourism in Fiji is in need of assistance to get back on track, say Women in Tourism International Alliance vice president and co-founder Berly Ley.

She said the organisation felt their trip to Fiji would help Fiji tourism with more exposure.

“The objective of this visit, with it being our first time is to bring the tourism focus back to Fiji,” she said.

“When we go back we can tell people that Fiji is really safe.”

WITIA is an international networking organisation for the travel and tourism industry established in February 2006 by travel professionals from Australia, USA and Canada.

The organisation headquarters is based in Queensland and represented in 16 countries.

Ms Ley said WITIA promoted enhanced business opportunities, expanded reach and a greater understanding of diverse cultures through interaction of its members across the globe.

Ms Ley said this was WITIA first familiarisation trip in the Pacific which included a five-day trip to Fiji during which the annual general meeting was held.
